TVB series

Now playing : Duran Duran - Ordinary World

I've just completed watching 2 very nice Hong Kong TVB series. The first one is Heart of Greed, starring Moses Chan as a nerdy guy but smart in business. There are quite a number of big names in there too, the picture speaks for itself. He operates an abalone business..a family business and his father has 2 wives. So imagine the typical chaos in a chinese story involving more than 1 wives. Of course add in a really wealthy father, 4 children (1 of them is a product of extra marital affair, 2 is from the first wive, 1 from the second wife) At least for this show, all the 4 children are the good ones versus the evil stepmother. Oh, the 2nd wife is a real mean witch here. The series revolves around the abalone business, jealousy and after the death of the first wife, all hell breaks lose because of fortune. It's also sort of a comedy drama. Moses's character with his nickname 'tak tak tei' is really funny. Some parts are so sad and touchy..I even shed some tears. It has a good ending, though short ending. 'tak tak tei' just flashes a big diamond ring to his love and they run off into the night and The End.
Another series which I just finished watching is The Green Grass of Home. This one is a funny show. Have you noticed that most TVB series are quite educational also. Seems like each series highlights different jobs/careers/industries. I mean, yes...usually it's around love, family, money and stuff but it is based on a particular job. Each series usually introduces a particular industry to us. So far I've seen different jobs in different TVB shows such as stockbroking, abalone sales, airline, firefighting, police, forensics, car maker (there's a new one coming The Drive of Life about car makers), banking, IT, entertainment, wholesalers, food & beverage and the list goes on. This one The Green Grass of Home highlights the jobs of interior designers, construction and farmers. It's a funny romantic show with a good ending. I enjoyed it and I love the theme song also which is sung by Leo Ku.

Pursuit of Happyness

Now playing : Diana Krall - Fly Me To The Moon

Recently I watched the Pursuit of Happyness starring the great Will Smith. In the show, he questioned happiness. Why is it a pursuit? I guess happiness is something people pursue. People strive for happiness in various ways. It doesn't just fall down from the sky. In order to be happy, different people will have to chase for the things that make them happy...? It's a really good movie. Will Smith plays Chris who is a salesman for some bone density scanner. Life wasn't easy...he became broke even before he knew it. In the movie, Chris's wife left him and he tried to pursue a career in stockbroking. In order to do that, he took up the 6 months internship program which means no salary. Only 1 is chosen at the end of the program to be hired. During those months, the events that occurred that sent him into a homeless frenzy while working hard in his internship program as well as trying to sell off the scanners was pretty heart wrenching. Chris is a character of strong willpower and confidence and Will Smith did a pretty damn good job at it and still came out looking damn good.

It's all about the music

Now playing : Dave Koz - Emily

Recently, a friend of mine lent me the LiteFM Lite Lounge cd comprising mostly instrumental music from the greats such as Dave Koz and Kenny G. The rest of them I've never heard of. I started to like Dave Koz's music after listening to his album "At The Movies" which featured some really nice cover versions such as his instrumental duet that featured the voice of India Arie on It Might Be You as well as Moon River with Barry Manilow. This cd, Lite Lounge has some well-known music such as Nothing But The Radio On, Over The Rainbow, When A Man Loves A Woman, Let's Wait A While...the light instrumental style. Perfect for a quiet rainy afternoon, curled up on my sofa, sipping hot milo and reading a book.

The past week since my last post has been relatively deadbeat. Kinda need a new challenge. It's getting routinely dull. I can't even remember what I did for the days that past. *thinking hard* Anyway, recently I noticed that my dog's fur was getting a little dry and there's a bit of those 'dandruff-like' specks on it. So I tagged along with Ding to the petshop to look for a dog shampoo + conditioner. Can you believe they even have stuff like de-stress shampoo for dogs?? I bought the Alpo dog shampoo because the rest are way too expensive and this one has a pleasant fragrance. I do notice a little difference in her fur after that. It's not so dry and dusty looking anymore, here's she sun bathing instead of sleeping under the shade.
And here she is ignoring her new toy after playing a short game of 'fetch' with her. She decides to ignore me too after finding out I didn't give her cookies after fetching the bone to me a couple of times.
Over the weekend, I started and finished one of the romantic chic novels entitled The Undomestic Goddess. It's a pretty funny story about a stressed out high-powered lawyer facing the worst crisis in her career, suffers a total meltdown and ended up in the suburb pretending to be a housekeeper. In the end, she turned out better, found love and a well-balanced life.
On Sunday, there was a sale going on at MNG in Island Plaza so I went to look around. Got myself a new handbag (I was actually looking around for a nice sling bag...couldn't find it, got distracted and bought something else) It was RM49..pretty reasonable. I never really liked MNG clothes because most of the material for their blouses are all soft clingy types that obviously does not compliment my not-so-slim figure. The materials used pretty much emphasizes every single bulge..every single runaway fat..ok..pretty much all extras that shouldn't be seen under clothes. I think MNG stuff are more specifically targetting those tall, slim model-like girls. Other than that, I don't remember anymore significant moments of the past few days so it's time I get back to checking my mails.
Cheers!
